The Aquitaine Regional
Council and the Forestry Centre in Bordeaux selected
Mimizan "Communauté de Communes" as
an associate partner in the context of the Eurosilvasur
European project for interregional cooperation in the
field of forestry and timber. This three-year programme
whose main partner was the Aquitaine region, brought
together a dozen regions in the "South Europe Atlantic
Arc" regions.
This programme concerned
with sustainable economic development and management
allowed the transfer of skills between Member States,
improved organisation of the sector, and the establishment
of relationships between those up- and down-line in
the sector. Among the 6 aspects included in the context
of Eurosilvasur, the Mimizan "Communauté
de Communes" worked on the development of an Internet
economic management site

This is subsequently to form part of a newly created
permanent forest observatory that at long term is to
be managed by the European Forest Institute.
